Charybdis Nano Kit

I ordered Charybdis Nano kit to solder myself. I had no experience in soldering or assembling keyboards but by following guide I was able to do it. While assembling I probably bent PCB too much and there appeared broken trace. Fortunately the guide also covered how to diagnose and fix possible issues, so I was able to fix it myself. Interesting experience. Argos is very good UI to configure the keyboard, even better than Vial. For example it allows to assign trackball modes per layer like scrolling or adjusting volume and it updates combos after editing keys. Regarding keyboard design: I feel like it almost perfect for me. I wish the trackball would be closer to thumb (it would be ok to lose one of the thumb buttons) or to move it closer to bottom key row. When I try using keyboard without tenting then trackball pops-out while I scroll it. Tenting fixes the angle for me and it stays it place. Still would be nice to have trackball fully fixed. I guess there could be some modified case model on discord or github. By the way the case I printed in SLA. It also works. I increased holes manually and glued screw inserts.

A few years back I started my hunt for my perfect split keyboard. I went from an alice style to a corne and churned through many more keyboards until I found Charybdis. The first time I laid my hands on it I knew I was home. For me this is the perfect keyboard. The kit material is top notch as always, pcb is well made and the 3d print is good. I am very happy with the kit and it is worth every penny to support BastardKB!

The kit was a lot of fun to put together, I find it very comfortable to use. Only feedback is that using the printed tents, the side without trackball is a bit too top heavy. It is easily fixed by attaching some weights to the underside to stabilize it, for me around 60gr was sufficient.

The trackball is life-changing!

Coming from the often referred ergonomic champions Kinesis Advantage2 and Elecom Huge trackball, which I both used for many years, the Charybdis has proven to provide an even more strainless computer usage, less numbness and pain in the hands after longer sessions and a better general posture, regardless of whether it is used sitting, standing or even walking. I just got my second one so I don't have to move the device between my home office and the company.

I’m very satisfied with the Charybdis Nano. The assembly process was straightforward and easy, even without much prior experience. Since building it, I’ve been using it daily without any issues. The design is phenomenal, and the ergonomic layout feels excellent to me. Overall, it’s a fantastic keyboard that I truly enjoy using.
