TBK Mini – built to order

I reached out to Quentin with a small customization request for my order, and he was incredibly helpful and accommodating. Really appreciate it. The order arrived on time and was packaged beautifully. This is my third bastard keyboard, and I can't recommend them enough: awesome small company with great products.

The build quality on the TBK Mini is superb. Nothing creaks, nothing flexes, every part sits exactly where it should, and the whole thing feels genuinely premium in the hand. The design is lovely too – clean and understated, but with real character. I'll be honest that the layout takes a bit of getting used to. The first few days were slower going, but once it clicked, typing on it became a real pleasure, and my hands feel noticeably more relaxed than they did on a conventional board. Definitely worth pushing through that initial phase. One thing I'd love to see on a future revision: hot-swappable sockets. With a keyboard built to this standard, it would be brilliant to be able to try different switches over time without reaching for a soldering iron. Not a complaint at all – just the one thing that would make an already excellent board even better. Very happy with it, and happy to recommend it.

I've been looking to get myself this keyboard for a while, but wasn't able to do so. Now it finally got to me, and I can not be more happy. Packaging is good, since it survived the Cyprus post. Tutorials on setting it up and modifying layout to my liking are very informative and helpful. Receiving updates on the status of the order and shipping are also very nice. Been using the keyboard at work for some time now, got through several iterations of refining the layout, but now I don't even notice that there's only 42 keys. Overall experience is great, would definetely recommend getting one of these once I can convince someone that getting used to split keyboard is worth it :D
